One Year in Ghana...

For those of you who don't know, my little brother, Jeff is on a mission in the Accra, Ghana mission. 1 year ago yesterday Jeff was climbing on a plane in Salt Lake City. And one year ago today he arrived in Accra to report to the Ghana MTC. A tall, skinny, blonde-haired, blue-eyed missionary in Ghana.
Jeff is 10 years younger than me, but we are great friends. He helped me make videos to send to Richard while he was on his mission in the Midwest. He was so nice to Richard when we were dating in high school and they are still good friends. So to send Jeff off on his mission so far away was really hard and scary. But he taught me a ton about faith and trusting in the Lord.
Here is his mission picture! He looks so young!
The night before Jeff flew out he was set apart.
The girls love him so much.
Sarah age 5, Emma age 1 & Rachel age 3

Here is a more recent picture of Jeff. He has been serving a lot in the bush. He works a lot with people who have almost nothing. I think that Jeff has learned so much about how blessed we are here. Jeff is an awesome example of strength of character. He works very hard to be honest and to work hard and follow the rules. About 6 months ago he witnessed an accident and there was man who was hurt. The people just stood around and didn't help him, so Jeff tore off his tie and wrapped it around the man's leg to stop the bleeding, had the people in the crowd get him a taxi to the hospital, and probably saved the man's life. He had never met the man before or since, but Jeff is the kind of man who thinks so much of the people around him.

Jeff loves his mission so much! It pains him when the people around him don't accept the gospel. He truly serves the people around him, even if they aren't ready to come unto Christ.

I have been thinking about Jeff all week and just wanted to share my thoughts about this awesome man that I am proud to call my brother! I love you so much, Jeff!

Such a cool example for your kids, and what an experience for him. My husband served in Haiti, and some of the things he experienced were unbelievable! Cool post!

Very cool that he's passed the half-way mark! My parents just hit theirs this month, too, though they'll be home in August (18 mos instead of 24). They just posted a new story about the Accra youth conference--a very good read about a pretty incredible group of youth. They and your brother are experiencing things that will change the course of their lives in such a great way forever. It'll be fun to sit and listen to his stories when he gets home!
